Flag stone floors and thick wood work surfaces give Middle Leys kitchen a gorgeous country charm. Adorning the ceiling are white washed wood beams that have lovingly been retained during the cottage's renovation and a butler's sink provides another period feature.
Middle Leys kitchen is truly beautiful and very well equipped; the white wood units and country style dresser feature a wide range of pots, pans, cutlery and crockery. There are even fun car-shaped egg cups and a picnic basket for days out on Exmoor.
On a chilly winter's morning the warmth from the Aga is magnificent, and cooking a Sunday roast could not be easier with its array of ovens for heating and warming food. For those a little unsure of using the Aga, a separate electric oven with gas hob is provided. Other kitchen facilities include a fridge/freezer and dishwasher.
When staying at Middle Leys you will have access to the cottage's very handy laundry room, which is located at the bottom of the stairs. This warm and cosy room is especially useful for those that need somewhere to store boots and dry clothes. Fitted in the laundry room is a washing machine and tumble dryer.
The pale green painted wood floors give Middle Leys living room a wonderful modern and contemporary twist, and they beautifully compliment the white walls and wood-burner that proudly sits in the large open fireplace.
The lounge has one double seater sofa and three arm chairs that continue the cream and brown colour theme featured in the room's soft furnishings. At the centre of the room is the coffee table where games can be played or jigsaws built, and the flat screen TV with DVD player is ideal for cosy evenings in front of the fire.
A King-size double bed sits at the heart of Middle Leys Master Bedroom where guests can enjoy romantic nights surrounded by the peace and tranquillity offered by the cottage's Exmoor location. This elegant bedroom has been tastefully decorated with pale blue walls resting in harmony with the hints of pink and green featured in the curtains and bedspread.
There is ample storage in the bedroom with a large chest of drawers and bedside tables that are neatly placed below the bedside lights that are suspended from the ceiling, saving furniture from being cluttered by lamps. Clothes can also be dried in front of the radiator on the antique wooden airer.
The Master Bedroom has a wonderful en-suite shower room, which is bright and spacious. Located to the side of the bedroom the bathroom continues the theme featured in the Master Bedroom, with pale lilac walls and green tiles helping to give the room a contemporary feel.
The corner shower is lovely and large and is a great place to start the day with a refreshing shower. The bathroom is also fitted with a hand wash basin with mirror and light above and a loo. A heated towel rail guarantees you are always stepping out of the shower and into warmth.
Located to the right at the top of the Middle Leys staircase is a very nice double bedroom that has a pretty sash window and views of Exmoor. The standard double bed is very comfortable and the room provides a lovely place for a second couple staying at Middle Leys.
The bedroom features a built-in triple wardrobe that has quirky vintage door handles, a country style chest of drawers and two bedside tables perfect for placing bedtime drinks or storing night-time reading.
Views of the garden and open countryside make drawing back the curtains in the pretty twin bedroom at Middle Leys a joy. This pleasant room with calming blue and white tones features two single beds, which can if required, be joined to form a King-size double.
The bedroom is wonderfully comfortable and has plenty of storage space, with a chest of drawers and nice free standing wardrobe where clothes and shoes can be stored. Lights draped from the ceiling above the beds make reading in the evening easy.
The family bathroom is wonderfully spacious and features thick country cottage walls, which have been painted pale lilac and are nicely combined with white tiles to create a delightful comforting atmosphere that can be enjoyed from the depths of a bubble bath.
The bathroom is ideal for those seeking relaxation, as well as families on holiday with young children, as it also features a handy hand-held shower attachment, hand wash basin and loo.
Pretty patio doors from the kitchen lead to Middle Leys garden, which is located to the front of the cottage. This very nice garden is where you can enjoy a peaceful afternoon, reading a book or enjoying a traditional cream tea purchased from the local village shop in Withypool. The garden is fenced and mainly laid to lawn with just a few flowers around the edges. There is a table and chairs for outdoor meals, and in the summer a BBQ is available.
Guests at Middle Leys can also use the grassed area opposite the cottage, which is on a slight slope but is a nice space for children to play.
